Real Issues That Affect Us

I want to take a moment to thank every woman, man, baby, child, and pet who went along and marched the streets across the UK and the World, this weekend. ūüôĆ

I also would like to thank the famous figures who attended or are spreading the message and raising awareness; as well as the young and elder leaders who are writing and performing empowering, intellectual and intelligent speeches to the masses. Their speeches are enough to evoke belief, feeling and a sense of okayness in the stressful times that we are currently under, politically. It is times like these that we need to unite in solidarity against hate, oppression and the many faults in society.

This weekend, we celebrated the fact that ignorance, fickleness and hatred has not won, isn’t winning and will not win – contrary to what statistics have us believing.

The sexist bigots in society, some of whom have more power than others, may have won an election, but they won’t win the battle nor the war that is the rest of this lifetime.

Remember, there are millions of people across Earth marching for the same reasons: equality, a better life, and a better future.

Parents are taking their children along to these rallies to prove that their children’s generations are voting next. They’ll hopefully make the more logical¬†choices. Others are taking their children along so that they prove a point that they are standing for their future. They want a future for their children that doesn’t involve uncertainty, fear, inequality, and racism, sexism, disabled(ism), religionism, homophobia¬†etc.

Together, when showing a united front, the People can win!

Those who engage in “locker-room talk” aren’t the People’s¬†choice… If¬†they are, I’m sorry to say, #WomensMarch proved otherwise. “A picture paints a thousand words.” Angle or not!

Ladies and gents, if you take anything from this post, take that we are One. We stand together, and we have no choice but to empower one another.

Conversely, we¬†don’t have to march the streets to show solidarity. We can do it via blogging, social-media, spreading the word through face-to-face, over-the-phone discussions or other means.

Women and men are equal until proven… Equal.¬†Let’s not let the fact that the clocks seemingly went back 300 years in November (and then officially yesterday) affect¬†that.

Peace to all!

Me with My ‘Red Nose’.

Hi guys and dolls,

We are taking part in Comic Relief‘s Red Nose Day, this year! I love everything¬†to do with fundraising, curing causes or creating a better future for others… Then again, doesn’t everybody? There is a real sense of accomplishment attached to knowing that you have helped better at least one person’s life by donating.

For those of you who don’t know, Comic Relief is a National UK Charity and it runs an annual fundraising night where celebrities and civilians get together to raise money for various causes and issues that we face both in society¬†and across the World.

The Red Nose Day celebrations are broadcast on TV, similarly to BBC‘s Children In Need.

We were asked to choose our own Red Noses last week, at random… I chose one like the rest of them. Guess which one I get? The “Nose-It-All”. Not sure if that’s an omen for “try not to looks like you know everything when you clearly don’t” or if it’s just a case of mere coincidence. Either way, I don’t know much, but I do know a hair wash and/or brush wouldn’t go amiss (if the picture above is anything to go by).

This year, Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day falls on the 23rd March. I’m excited but am wanting your help.¬†I need ideas for what¬†to do to raise money! Bake sale? Sponsored activity? … Any cool or quirky ideas are welcome!

Love,

Miamii

I woke up to the AMAZING news that my blog has won a ‘Blogger Recognition’ award. Thank you very much for believing in me (and my blog), Beauty & The Ballroom, without followers like you, I wouldn’t still be posting! We’re part of the Sisterhood!

How ‘Beauty Bae’ came about…

I started this blog on the 2nd of February 2016. I had experience of blogging and writing for national and regional publications, but I wanted to focus¬†on something¬†I enjoyed. I love my make-up, skincare, fashion and haircare products (in that order), so I figured that ‘Beauty Bae’ was¬†the best way forward.

I didn’t know that even after months of stopping, I’d open my WordPress back in November time of last year to almost 60 followers. Thank YOU!

In a short space of two months, my blog is¬†now followed by¬†over 113 bloggers, read by 1,500 users a month, has a sponsor in Harmony Life, and was featured on John Frieda’s website ¬†as well as social-media profiles!

My advice to prospective or new bloggers?

Be yourself. We are all unique, we all have our likes and dislikes, so work with those when choosing what to write about or what type of persona to portray in your posts.

So, yeah, choose a topic that you can write a million posts about and still not get bored of, and be yourself in your writing and choosing of posts…

Remember, your blog is YOURS and is supposed to show you off ,¬†acting as a representation of who you are as a person, and what people would get if they were ever to spend a little tI’ve¬†with you…

Now comes the hard part of choosing¬†just 15 fabulous bloggers to nominate¬†for this award…
