Real Issues That Affect Us

I’m beyond proud of the fact that I not only have 200+ followers on this blog, but that I’ve been awarded a ‘Versatile Blogger’ award, on the same day!

Thank you very much Shayna Stinson for the nomination, you beaut! Check out her blog HERE. #GirlfriendsGuideToBeauty

“Dems da RULES” like Ja Rule:

  • Thank The One who nominated you, providing a link their blog.
  • Share the award on your page.
  • Mention 7 facts about yourself.
  • Choose 5-10 nominees to pass this award on to (with 300 followers or less).
  • Notify your nominees by commenting on their blog.

Fax me dem #FACTS:

1) I’m a Londoner who is a regular at ‘Bird’ Restaurant for it’s very healthy battered chicken and waffles.

2) I tweet like a Bird online. Love a bit of tweeting, sometimes I tweet too much. But, then again, define “too much”? There’s no such thing as too much…

3) I work for Charities and do social and online content for them.

4) My favorite color is… Oh, wait, umm… BLUE!

5) I horseride and used to teach four-year-olds how to ride. Although I don’t own any pets, I’d love to own a horse, a golden retriever and a Russian blue kitten (yes, blue cats are a THING, and no I don’t mean dying a cat blue) one day.

6) I got into blogging by accident, as part of a coursework at Uni. I struggled to come up with an idea and something tangible but pursued technology at first. However, I’ve since switched to Beauty… The rest is history.

7) I want to retire in Australia or Switzerland. Pretty huge difference and distance between the two, but yeah… When I’ve saved up enough money, and got all I need to get out of life and career, you’ll find me there! Not that you’d want to though, right? 😉 *this is a FACT because it’ll happen. I’ll make it happen*

Who do I nominate? (#DidSomeoneSayNOM?! #NOMNOMNOM. #LunchTime #HungryInHungary #Hangry)

I don’t actually know which of you have less than 300 followers or more, and it wouldn’t be fair to only choose 5-10 followers, when I believe all of you that are reading this deserve it… So, if you’re reading this and have got this far, you have won this Versatility Award. You SMASHER, YOU! 💋

I had originally torn a ligament in my thigh (around the part of the hip flexor) and now I’ve only gone and done a cartilage in my knee in too! #FML #WoahIsMii #YouCantTakeMeAnywhere

What’s worse is that both injuries are not in the same leg… As I said, I’d torn the ligament of my right thigh previously and I’ve just found out that I also have torn the cartilage in my left knee.

Last week, I was on bed rest most days because I legitimately couldn’t get up and out of bed… Once I felt like it had healed enough for me to return to work (this week), I went right away. Now though, I’m kind of wishing I didn’t…

At first I thought my knee pain was due to bed rest. I literally hadn’t been up and out of my room for three days so I thought it was taking its toll on my body, making my limbs and joints stiff… But, since getting rushed to hospital this morning because my leg gave way at work, I’ve realised that it’s a lot more serious.

Obviously, for those of you who don’t know, my “Miumba” and exercising has contributed to the tears of my muscles, I assume. Hence why the title of this post is: ‘The Importance of Stretching Correctly’. I say this because I don’t think I was stretching correctly. Either that or I went too far with it… Who knows. Everything in moderation, guys and dolls! Everything in moderation.

So, my message to you is: stretch and stretch correctly. Whether you’re working out or just dancing/moving around, stretch. Stretching of the muscles and body joints is vital.

Another message: if you’re suffering from an injury, don’t rush things. Take your time. Let it heal. Don’t think you can do things normally again when you clearly can’t… Let this be a lesson. Be patient or else you’ll cause yourself a greater injury.

No Miumba for me anymore…

I am just one in an ocean of people who love those of all races, religions, genders, sexualities and backgrounds. Don’t let what’s happening in the World right now (coming from a minority with a loud voice) make you forget that!

Together, we will trump hate, misogyny, homophobia, xenophobia, racism and sexism! Let’s stand tall and be as one against bigots of both great or little power.

Love,

Miamii

Where are the ‘This Morning‘ production team finding their guests, please? I mean, in the space of less than one week there have been two misogynistic views raised by none other than women!

First it was that “women are more likely to be sexually assaulted if they dress provocatively” and now it’s “women who don’t wear make-up are less likely to secure a job after an interview”.

I’m actually getting extremely tired of this crap now! I expected that (after the very liberating and powerful #WomensMarch) we would be more accepting of femininity and of ladies in general. Alas, we’ve since had women openly shading us on a public scale! If we women are being this misogynistic towards each other, what message are we sending to the chauvinistic and bigoted men like Trump, Farage and Morgan?

Ladies, whether you wear make-up or not, whether you wear provocative clothes or not – you do you! Do what makes you happy! Don’t conform to ideals set by others just to “fit in”. Embrace yourself, embrace your body, embrace your face, your beauty and your character.

When you go for a job interview – provided you’ve showered, look clean, your body language is on point and you’re dressed somewhat smartly (as though you’ve made an effort) – nothing else matters!

If make-up is not your thing, I envy you. At least your skin will age slower and you’re what can be described as a “natural beauty”. Also, you’re getting an extra however many minutes or hours to sleep in the morning! RESULT!

I’ve never actually come across a Job Specification or Description which highlights that a woman “needs to wear make-up” in order to be hired – well, unless they’re applying for jobs at MAC or beauty counters in department stores, that is…

Let me remind you that there are women on Earth who are creating revolutions for us against make-up and fore it. Chimamanda and Alicia Keys to name a couple!

Your skills, personality, body language, experience and what you say in an interview are what get you hired, not what you look like facially. The company also has to consider whether you’re a good fit culturally, again, this has nothing to do with whether you’re partial to eyeliner, some mascara, and a lippie nor does it have anything to do with the fact that you can ‘Kontour Like a Kardashian‘.

Besides, would you hire someone who looks as though they should be appearing on ‘Snog, Marry, Avoid’? Less is definitely more (depending on the type of role you’re applying for).

Love and light,

Miamii

‘Beauty Bae’ won its SECOND ‘Blogger Recognition Award‘ in less than a month, yesterday! 🏆

 🎉 🎉 🎉

Thank you very much, Bex Faye, for the nomination! I’ve already told you this but: Bex + Fae = BAE. How? Well, B(ex) (F)a(y)e. 👯‍♂️

I don’t want to rewrite what wrote last time but this blog began as a way of giving my hobby (make-up collecting and wearing) a new meaning. I now also collect and wear it for you!

Two new tips for newbie bloggers? Start, just start writing and you’ll see the rest will follow… There is no time like the present, and everyone/everything has to start somewhere. Secondly, choose the time you post carefully, unless you’re bored (like me, currently) and are suffering from insomnia (also me).

I would like to nominate:

1) Babbling Beauty (nice reviews!)

2) Beauty As I See (great content!)

3) Beauty by Aneesa (one of my very first followers)

4) Bex Faye (you were always going to be in this list).

5) Beauty & the Ballroom (again!)

🚨 Disclaimer: my listed bloggers (should they choose to accept their nominations) are to thank the person/s who nominated them, outline how their blog/idea first came about and should give two tips on how newbies or aspiring bloggers can get rid of those first-time blogger/blogging nerves, then they should list their nominations! I look forward to reading your posts. 🚨

📝 Please note that most of my nominees (this time) are bloggers who I’ve known since last year, to commemorate my One Year WordPress-aversary, three days ago. 📝

I will continue to support and interact with all my current (and newer) followers as well as prospective ones!

Thank you, you’re all great and I love you.
