General Election

I know that the majority of you (reading this) are either voters or in your late teens (and are from the UK), so you’ll be eligible to vote (sooner than 2020)…

You’ll know that there’s a “Snap” election – which has absolutely nothing to do with Snapchat – happening on the 8th of June. Instead, it’s a general election where we, the citizens of the UK, get to vote for our Prime Minister.

You’ll also know that we didn’t get to vote for May… We were able to vote between Miliband and Cameron though, and fore or against Brexit too!

So, this is a message to YOU, it’s YOUR chance to CHANGE THIS!

Look, I’m not here to tell you who to vote for, but I’m also not here to tell you to vote Tory! I’ll tell you why…

You’ve seen what happened post-Brexit, right? …

YOU can’t tell me you’re happy with the UK being out of the EU – because what’s YOU without “EU”?

Answer: “Y” – as in “WHY HAS THIS SH*T HAPPENED?!”

People are at risk of deportation, prices are rising, help and funding from other sources has stopped…

It’s a social and economical mess!

Lest we forget how Cameron left straight after Brexit was announced, Farage stood down of his BULLSH*T party, and Boris Johnson couldn’t even hack it afterwards!

What does that tell you? The idiots who were pro-Brexit couldn’t even handle the fall out.

Then, then May was thrust in like a Wrecking Ball that no one wanted.

So, don’t fall for the lies the second time… Choose the RIGHT party – one that won’t stand down after calling most of our bluffs! But, we’re the ones “sabotaging”, right? 😳😑🤷‍♀️

Also, to avoid ‘thinking’ your vote WON’T count or having to say: “I voted the other way KNOWING* the other party would win” the next day – VOTE FOR THE ONE YOU ACTUALLY WANT TO WIN!!!

If you vote for shows like CBB, X Factor and BGT… VOTE IN THE ELECTION! It’s FREE and even MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER!

Let Brexit, what’s happened in the US (Fartface) and a leading party that has made all the wrong decisions be a lesson… This is our chance to put right past wrongs, a chance to fix it. Vote Corbyn. Let’s vote Labour.

I enjoyed the ‘Tattoo Tagso much that I’ve decided to do another one… However, I’m now turning my attentions to Beauty..

Do you remember your first makeup item?

I actually do! I think my first makeup product was the Maybelline Super Stay 16 Hour Foundation in 300 shades too dark and about 700 layers too thick. That was Mii… Haters would say I looked like an acne-sufferer who resembled TanMom!

Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?

I have to say that my favourite ever mascara has to be the Masterpiece Transform by MaxFactor. This one suits my lashes perfectly and to a T. It lengthens, it curls, it thickens and it darkens… I love everything about it. Even the thin wand…

What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?

Matte and flawless coverage – but I don’t mind if a blemish is still be visible. Also, I wouldn’t say no to a few glowing areas… However, I don’t want to look like I’ve been doing nothing but performing the act of facial perspiration all day!

Favourite high end brand?

Christian Dior. It’s one of them ones that can show all the other high-end ones the Door

What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?

Kiko Milano, Kat Von D, Shiseido, Sephora, Origins.

Favorite drugstore brand?

L’Oréal (or Bourjois). I have a thing for the Parisienne.

Do you wear fake eyelashes?

Nope. I literally can’t even contemplate fake lashes or a metal eyelash curler. My lashes are my eyes’ life… If I put glue on them to put extra lashes on, my real OGs will real COME OFF!

Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?

I’ve left my house looking like I shouldn’t have left or that I don’t have one to leave plenty of times… So, in a word, no.

What is your most cherised beauty product?

My L’Oreal Men Expert Tattoo Reviver. I’m not even going to *tattoo* coat it… There, I said it! 😉

How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or get lots of goodies at once?

I shop often for makeup and food. I think makeup comes before food. I pick up items here or there and/or hoard them here or there as well. I’d buy a product, forget about it, think I’ve lost it when I remember, then find it again – out of date…

Do you have a “beauty budget” or you spend freely?

I’m moving into my own place at the end of the year, so, no – I can’t afford to not budget.

Do you utilize coupons, rewards cards and sales when you shop for cosmetics?

Nah. I’m awful at this. I should, but I don’t. I just A) never remember to and B) don’t see the point because realistically they’re making you spend more than you need to. Having said that, one thing I do love, is my mum’s Boots’ card. 😍😍😍.

Is there a brand that you absolutely can’t stand?

If I don’t like a brand, I won’t blog about it or use its products… If I love a brand, I blog about it. If they have a product that doesn’t agree with me, I’m honest.

Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?

There’s only so much you can actually do to prevent ingredients… I just try to use the most natural of products or products that have a high % of natural ingredients in them.

Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?

Boots/Superdrug. I get lost in there. Sometimes when I need Dior, I venture into Fenwick or John Lewis and can never find the exit. I mean, how does one find the exit of one of those?

Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?

I love trying new ones, but I think it’s best – for my skin – to stick to a routine because I don’t want my skin to breakout again. It was awful.

Favorite bath and body brand?

L U S H. It’s, umm, LUSH.

What brand do you think has the best packaging?

Guerlain. That packaging though… Also, LANCÔME is up there too, tbh.

Which celebrity always has great makeup?

Vanessa Hudgens or Kate Middleton.

5 Favorite Beauty Gurus

What? 😆

I’m supposed to say who I look up to for makeup? Myself, I reckon I do good makeup on myself and just about no-one else. Charlotte Tilbury. HudaBeauty. Jenna Marbles (if she was to do a makeup video). My neighbours’ cat? I’m sure she’ll be good at it if I train her. 💖

Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains?

That’s like asking me if I like bidets. I love bidets.

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

Do you mean: “have you left dents in your eye where you pupil used to be (whilst putting on mascara)”? If so, yes.

Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?

The only things I ever wear on my eye are creams, mascara and eyeliner. I can’t for the life of me (or anyone else’s) do eyeshadow. Also, I might as well own up now in saying that my eyeliner isn’t “wings and dat”… It’s more “line your waterline and on/under the lash line (with Khol) and hope for the best”.

How many hair products do you use on a typical day?

Zero. None. Nought.

What do you apply first, concealer or foundation?

Isn’t that like asking me if I pour milk into my bowl before the Coco Pops – or – if the Chicken came before the Egg?

Come on, people! What are some of these questions?! Why on God’s Earth would I put concealer before the foundation??? If you do that then I’m sorry, I’m sure it works for you but it’s just not something I’m familiar with.

Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?

The word ‘consider’ is a strong one. You could “consider” something all you want, if you really want to do it, you would. 💖

What do you love about makeup?

That I can write about it. That it gives others confidence… That it can transform people’s faces or bodies. If you think about it, makeup is really quite something.

Hey Megan’s Little Blog, I read your Tattoo Tag and it inspired me… So, here goes!

1. How many tattoos do you have?

I have just the one tattoo. People always say “once you get one you’ll want more”, as they’re apparently addictive… I want one more and only one more, my future husband’s name/initials tattooed on my finger. That’s all.

2. What is your favourite tattoo?

My favourite tattoo would have to be the one I’ve yet to have inked on to me…

3. How old were you when you got your first tattoo?

I was 25 (and still 25). I’ve talked a good game of wanting one since I was 20 years old… I waited until I found the right one because I wanted a Pegasus at first, but it was too detailed for the wrist and I’m not a fan of big tattoos on myself so I was reluctant.

4. What do your parent’s think about your tattoos?

You’ll laugh if I tell you my mum actually chose mine! She always said she wanted a butterfly or a heart tattooed on her back/shoulder personally, but that she wouldn’t be able to stand the pain, so I got one of a four-leaf clover instead.

5. Did you always have a love for tattoos?

I love art in general. Body art is just as nice. Although, I’ve got to admit I’m not a fan of full-body or over done ones. Like, if you can no longer see the person’s skin, it’s too much imo. Different strokes for different blokes/blokettes though… Rock it, and do you – always!

6. What was your inspiration?

I like unique things that people wouldn’t usually choose at first thought. So, the four-leaf clover was something I hadn’t seen before, but something with symbolism and meaning. I chose it based on the meaning. Also, it was around the time of St Patrick’s Day, I’m not Irish nor do I live in Ireland but I wanted some luck.

7. Do you plan on getting more tattoos in the future?

Yes. See Q1 and Q2 for #TattooInspo.

8.Which tattoo was the most painful?

None. If I had to say which bit hurt most it’ll have to be the outline. The rest didn’t hurt at all.

Mind you, I have to go in for an infill of one of the leaves – so my answer could change! One of the leaves got way too scabby, and when it peeled off, most of the detailing came off with it… 😿

This reminds me, I’ve got to book it this week. Thanks!

9. Do you regret any of your tattoos?

No. I would never get one done if I was going to regret it…

This is exactly why I waited until 25 to get one. If I had gotten one at the time I began wanting one, I’d have regretted it. I waited for the time when I knew what I wanted, and waited for my mum to approve it before going through with it.

10. What was your least painful tattoo?

See Q8.

11  What did you use when it was healing?

I was told to use Bepanthan. Hated it. I then started using LUSH’s Celestial, it was so much better. You could even use Cocoa Butter.

12. What’s the best aftercare?

L’Oréal Tattoo Reviver #NEVERFADE! It’s boss. Honestly, it really refreshes any tattoo. Not that mine has been on long enough to need it, but it just enhances and brightens the colour up. I love it.

I put a poll out on Twitter, and out of my 1,550+ followers, one of them voted for Everything. So, this is a post that has a bit of everything

It’ll have entertainment in the form of the above embedded Facebook video… It’ll have me discussing this alleged “beauty treatment” (or lack of it), and it’ll also have a life lesson along with another quick mention of everyone’s favourite: Bae! 💖

Let’s get the negatives out the way first, shall we? I’ll start by asking: WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL must’ve happened for a beautician or therapist to think wasting nachos, queso and cheese by placing them on another person could be “healing”?! If we thought applying makeup using a boiled egg was morbid, what the SAM HECK is this?!

I had never heard anything like this until I saw it. I – just, words actually fail me… I wish I didn’t see it in the first place tb…

Imagine that CHEESE though?! That cheese… Those nachos… Those jalapeños… Why? “Why’re you doing that, wo/man???” My God! 🙀

There are people starving and these people are wasting an abundant supply of this by bathing people in them as a means of “healing” SBMH (shake both my hands). 🤝

What happened to essential oils? What happened to sensual messages? Even acupressure? … Why is society wasting good food?

One thing this video has done though is turned people off nachos for life! There are things that – once seen – can never go unseen; this being one them… I have absolutely no words. Just – none.

Apparently, this is “healing”. I’m sure EATING it would be more healing than being covered in it… Then again, I don’t have a diploma in Beauty Therapy nor Nacho-Homosapien-Soaking.

Still, after throwing up about seven times, I did find the funny side. I mean, you’ve got to with stuff like this, haven’t you?

Let’s get onto the positives! 😃 This guy (receiving this treatment) is obviously living the dream! Imagine being lathered in that cheese like it’s sun lotion… He must’ve been in Nachos Heaven when this video was filmed; just look at his smug, goggles-wearing face. 🤣

The life lesson:

DON’T DO IT.

IF IN DOUBT, EAT THE NACHOS! DON’T RUN BATHS IN THEM.

YOU’LL STINK, YOU’LL LOOK LIKE A RIGHT PLEB, AND PROBABLY GET A SKIN DISEASE, SALMONELLA OR ECOLI.

The mention of bae:

Wanna tweet or nah? 💖

I was a pesky pescatarian when I was at Uni, wasn’t I? Yes, I was. My Uni was in Ealing and there were a number of good sushi places around, so I got accustomed to the consumption of fish like it was tap water.

If you know me, you know I love to cook. I’m in no way a Nigella, probably more a younger Mrs. Doubtfire (who’s yet to set the kitchen or her non-existent big fabric breasts on fire)…

This is a recipe for two. If you have a S/O who enjoys salmon, this’d be a nice treat! It’s so easy and quick to do, you’ll honestly love it – if you love Vietnamese food or anything authentic.

  • 25g (1oz) piece fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce (or stock?)
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp crushed garlic (you wouldn’t want to wear cloves on a night out)
  • 2 salmon fillets
  • Spring onions to decorate

Combine the marinade ingredients in a bowl (fish sauce/stock, sugar, lemon juice, garlic, pepper and ginger), add the salmon, then use a pastry brush to spread the marinade evenly over it. Cover the now marinated fish in tin-foil or cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

If you’re planning on cooking this outside, grill the salmon on a BBQ for about seven minutes each side. Alternatively, cook in a preheated oven at 200°C/400°F/gas mark 6 for eight to 12 minutes.

Finally, scatter the spring onion over the salmon before serving. Devour. 😋
