I lived on Nakéd smoothies when I was at University!

My routine was – I’d exit the train station to set off for University before popping into Starbucks  to pick up one of these and a packet of Popchips – which DID NOT help my water retention – for a library session or the lecture.

We’re Naked Juice. We are dedicated to creating the best-tasting juice smoothies made from the most delicious fruits and boosts. Drink it all in!

I honestly didn’t know that Pepsico (the brand behind Pepsi) had acquired it until after I graduated! I was actually shocked when I found out a little later on… Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it’s slightly shocking to learn that Pepsi owns a smoothie and fresh-fruit business. Then again, they make Tropicana (not the Club) #Wham #GeorgeMichaelRIP juices too…

So, anyway, yeah, I’ve tried plenty of the Nakéd smoothies… The Green, the Blue, the Red, Kale and Mango to name them all. I was annoyed to learn that they have more which I’ve yet to try but haven’t come across in stores nationwide… The website mentions Açai and Tropical flavours.

The Blue Machine has to be my fave… Also, no, before you ask, that’s got nothing to do with the colour blue being my favourite… I also like the taste of it more than the rest. It’s actually YUMMY! It contains Blackcurrants and Blueberries which are jam packed with Vitamin B12 and is the vitamin responsible for making us happy.

The Red MachineRed Machine (similarly to The Blue Machine) is packed with ingredients that are rich in B12 i.e. Strawberry and Raspberries.

The Green Machine, on the other hand, is the detoxifying one. It’s still pretty tasty to be fair… I like that it doesn’t taste too much like vegetables as most Green smoothies tend to. Although, I am a massive fan of green juices. Look, I’m not denying that they don’t taste weird but they’re so incredibly healthy that you’ll forget afterwards!

Seeing as I’ve mentioned three, I might as  well discuss the Mango one. It’s is nice but I’ve had tastier… It’s too thick for my liking and doesn’t taste solely of mango like I expected it to.

If you’re not down the pub or at your local bar toasting Jay Z’s successful swimmers (for getting Beyoncé pregnant with twins), then you should get yourself a Nakéd.

However, come to think of it, you’re excused seeing as it’s the end of Dry January! As if by SORCERY, PAY DAY falls on a day so close to the BEGINNING OF FEBRUARY which signals the end of DRY JANUARY! #DrinkUp #JÄYgerZ on the house!

Alright, I don’t actually know if Beyoncé really tried this “Maple Syrup” detox as a way of losing extra weight before her Dreamgirls debut, but I heard that this was the detox drink that she took in order to lose the extra weight so I’ve been making it, and trying it for myself.

What you’ll need:

Lemon (the juice of a lemon, squeezed)

Cayanne Pepper (a dash)

Organic, natural Maple Syrup (a drop)

What to do:

Put these ingredients into your favourite cup or mug and drink up! You can dilute it with hot water if it’s too strong for you, especially when drinking it in the morning. Drinking acidic drinks on an empty stomach is not advised.

Drink this concoction for one week (x3 a day) and you’ll notice a considerable difference in your weight… It’ll begin to drop off after a couple of weeks – once your body gets used to it.

Although it’s a type of diet, you can drink it alongside your normal meals (providing you eat clean). However, Beyoncé actually just drank this and didn’t eat anything… Wow! I couldn’t imagine doing that… But, Beyoncé did and lost a whopping 10  pounds!

I did this (whilst eating my normal calorie-limited meals) and lost five lbs… Not bad going, if I do say so myself!

Mandem and madmen,

This here blog post is going to act as a little helping hand in choosing something special for your significant other or life-partner, this  Valentines Day.

First thing’s first, if you’re with a high-maintenance girl, good luck to you… You’re going to need it. I, also, as a lover of the finer things in life, haven’t got the foggiest idea as to what she may want to be given, on the day that celebrates love and a half-naked angel baby who goes around shooting arrows into people’s hearts (lovingly). #Cupid

Failsafe options (unless she’s diabetic or suffers from hay-fever or other pollen allergies) would be flowers and chocolates. Alternatively, a stuffed teddy would be a cute idea too for a Disney fan (or if she’s into that sort of thing).

A pair of shoes wouldn’t go amiss either (providing you actually know her size and what she’s into, style-wise) for a lady who is into fashion.

Perfume? This could work, and so could a gift-set from LUSH.

Make-up? You’ve got to know her shade or what sort of colours/brands she likes in order to even contemplate doing this! Not that you would… Come off it lads! We all know you wouldn’t be seen at a Bobbi Brown counter unless she dragged you along! I wouldn’t even be surprised if you thought “he” was a footballer, to be honest.

Try not to get her stuff that only you like and would use… That isn’t romantic (unless you have the same things in common and) she loves you enough to like the stuff you’re into or put up with it, I’m the best of both.

Finally, when planning something nice, know the type of girl she is, know what makes her tick, what she likes, what she doesn’t… That’s vital in getting it right. If she’s anything like me, good luck in finding out LOL! I struggle beyond belief in being decisive and choosing what to do on dates. I would say it’s “human nature” but it isn’t…  It’s weird because in every other aspect of my life – aside from romance – I’m the most decisive person I know. So, ladies, let that be a lesson – be decisive when you’re being asked to! That’s my advice, which I should take, but never do.

Anyway, back to ideas for dates… I don’t know, the cinema? A nice meal out? The theatre? The zoo? Again, what’s she into? Find that out  because without it you’ll struggle. A nice break away would be sure to not be refused though… Plan a romantic night out somewhere with an overnight hotel stay. Something intimate. Get them candles burning like your heart! #EmergancyServicesInducing (in the best, safest and nicest way possible).

LOL! I love how I seem to know more about what to buy guys than I do girls and the worst part is: I am one! 😂

Disclaimer: I’ve only been in one relationship. This may mean that I was born in the wrong body, or that I’ve spent way too much time around my brother.

As with anything, most of us girls are really very easy to keep happy and don’t ask for much other than your time, patience and love/attention, also – affection. That’s HUGELY important! ❤

Today, I will be sharing my take on a unique veggie red-velvet recipe. It’s delicious and doesn’t include any preservatives, artificial colours or flavourings.

It’s no secret that I love any vegetable-related cakes… This might sound weird to you, but are y’all not the same people who can’t say no to a slice of the finest carrot cake? Sort it out! Vegetables in cakes are the past, present and future.

For instance, I’ve just learned how to make a cheesecake filling and chocolate mousse using avocado. Sounds disgusting now but once you get over the “vegetables shouldn’t be used in sweet dishes” vendetta (and taste it) it’ll all be fine and dandy! Again, you are the same people who won’t look twice at a carrot cake before scoffing it down your cake-hole (clever use of a pun, even if I do say so myself).

Back to the Red Velvet Cake… Yes, before you ask, I chose to include BEETROOT instead of food colouring. You are allowed to throw up now, just make sure you come back to carry on reading afterwards… You won’t want to miss it!

2 teaspoons lemon juice
135g beetroot, boiled and grated
310g flour with 100g ground almonds
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
400g dates
50g unsweetened cocoa powder
285g unsalted butter, melted
4 beaten eggs
2 tablespoons honey
125ml dark chocolate almond milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 tablespoons cream
75g low-fat soft cheese
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 dash of salt                                                                    450g icing sugar

Start by greasing your baking dish with a choice of butter, low-fat oil or oil spray.

Then, preheat your oven to 180 C / Gas 4 and pour lemon juice over beetroot, setting aside to soak.

Combine the flour and ground almonds, 1 teaspoon salt, bicarbonate of soda, mashed dates, cocoa, melted butter, eggs, honey, dark chocolate almond milk and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract into a large mixing bowl. Finally throw in beetroot and beat mixture 2 minutes at medium speed of mixer before transferring to prepared dish.

Bake at 180 C / Gas 4 about 40 minutes before leaving to cool. While you wait for the cake to cool, you can get started with the frosting.

To make frosting: combine the cream and soft cheese, 1 teaspoon vanilla and dash of salt followed by the icing sugar. Once everything is in your bowl, beat until fluffy and leave to set.

All that’s left now is to assemble the darn thing before consumption! 😋

P.S: you can add nuts to garnish (if you’re not allergic obviously), and for extra texture.

*I found this recipe on AllRecipes but altered it to make it even more healthier*. You’ll find a photo of what it should look like attatched to the link.

I’ve yet to post a photo of it because I want to follow up on this blog with a video – which I’ll upload to YouTube and embed in this post. Check back here in a couple of weeks for it!

Where are the ‘This Morning‘ production team finding their guests, please? I mean, in the space of less than one week there have been two misogynistic views raised by none other than women!

First it was that “women are more likely to be sexually assaulted if they dress provocatively” and now it’s “women who don’t wear make-up are less likely to secure a job after an interview”.

I’m actually getting extremely tired of this crap now! I expected that (after the very liberating and powerful #WomensMarch) we would be more accepting of femininity and of ladies in general. Alas, we’ve since had women openly shading us on a public scale! If we women are being this misogynistic towards each other, what message are we sending to the chauvinistic and bigoted men like Trump, Farage and Morgan?

Ladies, whether you wear make-up or not, whether you wear provocative clothes or not – you do you! Do what makes you happy! Don’t conform to ideals set by others just to “fit in”. Embrace yourself, embrace your body, embrace your face, your beauty and your character.

When you go for a job interview – provided you’ve showered, look clean, your body language is on point and you’re dressed somewhat smartly (as though you’ve made an effort) – nothing else matters!

If make-up is not your thing, I envy you. At least your skin will age slower and you’re what can be described as a “natural beauty”. Also, you’re getting an extra however many minutes or hours to sleep in the morning! RESULT!

I’ve never actually come across a Job Specification or Description which highlights that a woman “needs to wear make-up” in order to be hired – well, unless they’re applying for jobs at MAC or beauty counters in department stores, that is…

Let me remind you that there are women on Earth who are creating revolutions for us against make-up and fore it. Chimamanda and Alicia Keys to name a couple!

Your skills, personality, body language, experience and what you say in an interview are what get you hired, not what you look like facially. The company also has to consider whether you’re a good fit culturally, again, this has nothing to do with whether you’re partial to eyeliner, some mascara, and a lippie nor does it have anything to do with the fact that you can ‘Kontour Like a Kardashian‘.

Besides, would you hire someone who looks as though they should be appearing on ‘Snog, Marry, Avoid’? Less is definitely more (depending on the type of role you’re applying for).

Love and light,
