Cosmetics

I enjoyed the ‘Tattoo Tagso much that I’ve decided to do another one… However, I’m now turning my attentions to Beauty..

Do you remember your first makeup item?

I actually do! I think my first makeup product was the Maybelline Super Stay 16 Hour Foundation in 300 shades too dark and about 700 layers too thick. That was Mii… Haters would say I looked like an acne-sufferer who resembled TanMom!

Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?

I have to say that my favourite ever mascara has to be the Masterpiece Transform by MaxFactor. This one suits my lashes perfectly and to a T. It lengthens, it curls, it thickens and it darkens… I love everything about it. Even the thin wand…

What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?

Matte and flawless coverage – but I don’t mind if a blemish is still be visible. Also, I wouldn’t say no to a few glowing areas… However, I don’t want to look like I’ve been doing nothing but performing the act of facial perspiration all day!

Favourite high end brand?

Christian Dior. It’s one of them ones that can show all the other high-end ones the Door

What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?

Kiko Milano, Kat Von D, Shiseido, Sephora, Origins.

Favorite drugstore brand?

L’Oréal (or Bourjois). I have a thing for the Parisienne.

Do you wear fake eyelashes?

Nope. I literally can’t even contemplate fake lashes or a metal eyelash curler. My lashes are my eyes’ life… If I put glue on them to put extra lashes on, my real OGs will real COME OFF!

Is there any kind of makeup you can’t leave the house without?

I’ve left my house looking like I shouldn’t have left or that I don’t have one to leave plenty of times… So, in a word, no.

What is your most cherised beauty product?

My L’Oreal Men Expert Tattoo Reviver. I’m not even going to *tattoo* coat it… There, I said it! 😉

How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or get lots of goodies at once?

I shop often for makeup and food. I think makeup comes before food. I pick up items here or there and/or hoard them here or there as well. I’d buy a product, forget about it, think I’ve lost it when I remember, then find it again – out of date…

Do you have a “beauty budget” or you spend freely?

I’m moving into my own place at the end of the year, so, no – I can’t afford to not budget.

Do you utilize coupons, rewards cards and sales when you shop for cosmetics?

Nah. I’m awful at this. I should, but I don’t. I just A) never remember to and B) don’t see the point because realistically they’re making you spend more than you need to. Having said that, one thing I do love, is my mum’s Boots’ card. 😍😍😍.

Is there a brand that you absolutely can’t stand?

If I don’t like a brand, I won’t blog about it or use its products… If I love a brand, I blog about it. If they have a product that doesn’t agree with me, I’m honest.

Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?

There’s only so much you can actually do to prevent ingredients… I just try to use the most natural of products or products that have a high % of natural ingredients in them.

Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?

Boots/Superdrug. I get lost in there. Sometimes when I need Dior, I venture into Fenwick or John Lewis and can never find the exit. I mean, how does one find the exit of one of those?

Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?

I love trying new ones, but I think it’s best – for my skin – to stick to a routine because I don’t want my skin to breakout again. It was awful.

Favorite bath and body brand?

L U S H. It’s, umm, LUSH.

What brand do you think has the best packaging?

Guerlain. That packaging though… Also, LANCÔME is up there too, tbh.

Which celebrity always has great makeup?

Vanessa Hudgens or Kate Middleton.

5 Favorite Beauty Gurus

What? 😆

I’m supposed to say who I look up to for makeup? Myself, I reckon I do good makeup on myself and just about no-one else. Charlotte Tilbury. HudaBeauty. Jenna Marbles (if she was to do a makeup video). My neighbours’ cat? I’m sure she’ll be good at it if I train her. 💖

Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains?

That’s like asking me if I like bidets. I love bidets.

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

Do you mean: “have you left dents in your eye where you pupil used to be (whilst putting on mascara)”? If so, yes.

Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?

The only things I ever wear on my eye are creams, mascara and eyeliner. I can’t for the life of me (or anyone else’s) do eyeshadow. Also, I might as well own up now in saying that my eyeliner isn’t “wings and dat”… It’s more “line your waterline and on/under the lash line (with Khol) and hope for the best”.

How many hair products do you use on a typical day?

Zero. None. Nought.

What do you apply first, concealer or foundation?

Isn’t that like asking me if I pour milk into my bowl before the Coco Pops – or – if the Chicken came before the Egg?

Come on, people! What are some of these questions?! Why on God’s Earth would I put concealer before the foundation??? If you do that then I’m sorry, I’m sure it works for you but it’s just not something I’m familiar with.

Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?

The word ‘consider’ is a strong one. You could “consider” something all you want, if you really want to do it, you would. 💖

What do you love about makeup?

That I can write about it. That it gives others confidence… That it can transform people’s faces or bodies. If you think about it, makeup is really quite something.

Hello you bunch of Goliath slaying legends! 👊

I’m bringing you an absolute blogfest today, so be ready… I’m feeling better! I’m revving my blogging engines and going at 0.0 miles per hour x1,000,000,000,0000,000. Still, umm, 0. 🙈

Right – MAC’s Prep & Prime Fix, the ting-a-ling that all vloggers go on about…

Honestly, it’s one of them ones where the amount of times I hear it mentioned in blogs, you’d think they put it at the top of their Christmas trees, like some sort of Holy Grail!

… You know what’s coming don’t you? 😆

Somehow, just somehow, I’m going to find a wae to fit bae at the top of mine, this and every year (for at least 3 years so far)… Hopefully one day he’ll be there physically, like the absolute bae he is! 💖

Back to the Prep & Prime water, I expected it to be better… I mean, judging by the hype it receives, you’d expect it to turn you into Beyoncé

It didn’t. It didn’t even turn me into a premium version of my own self! I couldn’t even fly business class with it on my face if I tried…

A lightweight water mist that gently soothes and refreshes skin and finishes makeup.

It’s good, it works, it’s just not deserving of the overhype.

All it is is chemical-ised, fragrant water that we spray onto our faces prior and post makeup application, guys… It’s not gold-plated Pad Thai that turns your stool into a bouquet or your tears/blood into liquid gold, bloggers really need to understand this!

The one thing I noticed is it made my makeup result look smoother. In hindsight, so could a good blendage of powder and/or a HudaBeauty makeup tutorial.

Also, it’s water so of course it’s going to refresh your face… How many waters have you drank or washed in that didn’t refresh your face?!

Even if you washed your face in a puddle outside, although your face’ll look dirty ofc, there’s no denying it hasn’t been refreshed, because moisture of the water variety is always going to be refreshing! Madonna bathes in her own urine, no lie. I wouldn’t, God no, but – point is, water is “refreshing”.

I’m just slightly, extremely unimpressed because I’ve wanted to try this for years and now that I have, I have not much good to say, probably because it’s mediocre. Stick to the make-up, their sprays aren’t the be-all-and-end-all as bloggers have you thinking.

Bobbi Brown

I’ve decided not to seal my lips on this one… I actually can’t believe I hadn’t written about it before, because it’s awesome. That’s right, Bobbi Brown‘s Salmon.

This lipstick is absolute GOALS! The first time I discovered it was in John Lewis or House of Fraser, either or… Listen, I have the memory of Dory when it comes to stuff like this… I can hardly remember what I said a second ago.

Anyway, I suppose you could say Bobbi Brown’s Salmon could be referred to as a dupe to Kylie Jenner’s Dirty Peach; the only difference being it doesn’t dry matte and isn’t a liquid lipstick. If I had to describe the colour, I’d say it’s a subtle orange which could be built on to look bolder. Basically, it’s PENG!

I love orange and orang-utans. Not that this lipstick has anything to do with the latter… At 11:30pm (when I wrote this sentence) I had orang-utans on my brain. Nice!

This creamy, semi-matte lipstick from Bobbi Brown gives lips instant polish with rich, full coverage. Wear alone or pair with Lip Liner or one of Bobbi’s Lip Glosses- depending on your desired effect. Black lipstick case features metallic chrome detailing.

I love it. It’s lip/lipstick goals… It’s snogable, marriable, but definitely not avoidable! You need it in your life, on your lips, on your s/o’s lips… These are the words that should be on everybody’s (lips) and in everybody’s mouths.

Bobbi Brown Salmon (fishing in Yemen) = bae.

Tbh, I have no idea what else I can say that’ll make you want to invest like some kind of Dragon on BBC’s Dragon’s Den. Just – don’t declare yourself “out” until you’ve tried it, yeah? You’re going to want to do that at least!

Forget Yemen for the moment, go Salmon fishing in the Bermuda Heptagon (cos the Triangle’s is a 8!7CH!). Also, try Salmon eating in my house ’cause I cooked it and will be writing up the review soonish (unless I eat it before publishing) in which case – it’s a Hard Knock Life for you!

Face To Face

Wow. Very rarely am I speechless… Channel 4’s Face to Face has made me that way!

Katie Piper is (and’s always going to be) an inspiration! I love how confident, resilient and awesome she is… Where the haters in society would expect someone who’s been through what she has to cower away and be fearful, she is fearless (and flawless).

Her battles and ability to overcome them screams “strength” and “#GOALS”! She is someone we could all learn from…

Face To Face‘ highlights complex skin problems that some of us wrestle with every day, and proves that there are others out there with the same or similar skin imperfections, who rock it and are able to walk tall and be confident. The show sees Katie Piper (a survivor of an acid attack) giving girls a makeover to make them feel better about themselves, and it works.

It’s an incredible watch!

I guarantee that if you were lacking in confidence or self-esteem prior to watching it, the bravery of those who appear in it will make you feel otherwise…

What did I learn from ‘Face To Face’? I learned that we are all beautiful. I knew this already, but, it’s just nice to know that there are people out there who embrace their “flaws” (which I don’t believe they are) and feel body/face confident. This makes them seem and look even more so!

If you ask me, the only flaw someone can have is a low level of confidence or self-esteem… I understand that it’s unavoidable when pressure, bullying and discrimination surrounds us… But, I also know that someone who challenges these circumstances and accepts themselves as they are is attractive.

I, myself, have lacked confidence before… I know the feeling, and this is why I’m reaching out to you, to tell you that you’re perfect.

Flaws, to me, are just a trick of the mind… They make us think what we have is unacceptable when really – the only thing “unacceptable” is thinking that they’re not acceptable.

We all love makeup, don’t we? Some love it more than others…

Makeup is a tool that cannot only makeup our skin, but can make up our confidence.

There are also some of us who rely on it for confidence – and that’s okay too… The moral of ‘Face To Face’ as I understood it is to be happy in the skin you’re in whether you’re made up or not.

To conclude, yes – I think makeup can make a huge difference, and I’m so glad it exists; because it enables others to feel confident and beautiful. However, makeup is only skin deep, where confidence goes beyond that and goes right into soul. Remember that you’re MAJORLY beaut, and the right people know so.

Cargo Cosmetics HD

Seeing as it’s Easter soon, can I get an AMEN?! Cargo Cosmetics’ liquid foundation is life to my skin.

Funny story, like most things – I thought I lost this. Genuinely. It was only after going through endless amounts of bags after a move that I found it. Full. My baby (of the foundation variety) was FULL! I used it today, didn’t I? Of COURSE I did. Check out the video below. Please and thanks.

My Video <

Also, I’m well aware there’s no sound in the video. You’re just going to have to lipread, ’cause it’s not like you don’t mind read, is it? Thanks.

Anyway, enough about my video… Read what Cargo Cosmetics, themselves, have to say!

Oil-free foundation with medium to full coverage creates a smooth, and flawless complexion for on and off camera!
Formulated for high definition filming, foundation contains light diffusing pigments for an optical blurring effect. Silky formula glides on and blends seamlessly.

  • Infused with moisturizing agents and antioxidants to hydrate and protect the skin.
  • Suitable for all skin types.
  • Paraben free.

I always experiment with other foundations, but find myself back with this one… It’s the bae I don’t want to get awae… Maybe, just maybe, it’s because I don’t actually want it to? It will always have my heart (and my face).

Giving credit where credit’s due, my best friend introduced me to this foundation. She has majorly good taste in makeup (and just about everything else). She’s a keeper of a BFF!

What do I love about Cargo Cosmetics’ HD foundation? Probably that it’s a HD one that keeps my selfies/videos looking human and not zombie like; oh – and the shade is PERF! It suits my Lebanese Polarbearability to a T-BT. (not the Broadband, switch to Virgin, yeah?) Again, thanks.

In terms of wearage, I’m guessing it’s demi-matte? So, not completely, there’s still a glow in there – especially in hot weather. No, ladies that’s not PERSPIRATION, okay? We shower and use 96hour deodorants, don’t we? 🔥😉👊

Course we do! We don’t sweat, we glow…😘 Like Rudolph’s nose. Just, 365 days a year (and then some)…

How do I love to apply it? With a brush, obvs. But, I have been putting This Works’ In Transit underneath and WHAM! BAM! THANK YOU! FAM!

It’s a BEAUT of a coverage/application… Beyonce’s flawless be looking BTEC in comparison… Joking! Absolutely joking! She’s a QUEEN!!!!!!! Don’t tell her I said that, okay? Please. ‘Cause I’m SURE my FAKE NEWS would matter to a billionaire Goddess who rubs shoulders with the likes of Obama (and makes ‘Crazy in Love’ with Jay Z)… I LOVE HER‼️❤️
