I had originally torn a ligament in my thigh (around the part of the hip flexor) and now I’ve only gone and done a cartilage in my knee in too! #FML #WoahIsMii #YouCantTakeMeAnywhere
What’s worse is that both injuries are not in the same leg… As I said, I’d torn the ligament of my right thigh previously and I’ve just found out that I also have torn the cartilage in my left knee.
Last week, I was on bed rest most days because I legitimately couldn’t get up and out of bed… Once I felt like it had healed enough for me to return to work (this week), I went right away. Now though, I’m kind of wishing I didn’t…
At first I thought my knee pain was due to bed rest. I literally hadn’t been up and out of my room for three days so I thought it was taking its toll on my body, making my limbs and joints stiff… But, since getting rushed to hospital this morning because my leg gave way at work, I’ve realised that it’s a lot more serious.
Obviously, for those of you who don’t know, my “Miumba” and exercising has contributed to the tears of my muscles, I assume. Hence why the title of this post is: ‘The Importance of Stretching Correctly’. I say this because I don’t think I was stretching correctly. Either that or I went too far with it… Who knows. Everything in moderation, guys and dolls! Everything in moderation.
So, my message to you is: stretch and stretch correctly. Whether you’re working out or just dancing/moving around, stretch. Stretching of the muscles and body joints is vital.
Another message: if you’re suffering from an injury, don’t rush things. Take your time. Let it heal. Don’t think you can do things normally again when you clearly can’t… Let this be a lesson. Be patient or else you’ll cause yourself a greater injury.
No Miumba for me anymore…
