With Valentine’s Day around the corner, what do you buy a guy who’s seemingly got everything? … More things, that’s what!
Before reading further, I want you to know that whatever you end up choosing, it’s the thought that counts…
I’m not a man but I do know enough about their species to know that they appreciate the fact that we’ve gone to the effort of purchasing or planning something special for them. Having said that, the only way to really get it right is if you are aware of his loves and/or dislikes…
It’s pretty simple really… If he’s into fashion, have a look at his wardrobe, check for colours, styles, and sizes and BOOM! #jackpot
Similarly, if he likes gaming, check what type of computer, XBOX or PlayStation games he enjoys playing and check for similar games that have good reviews (which he doesn’t already own a copy of).
Personally, I’d steer away from watches – I’m a little superstitious in that sense… They say that if you give someone a watch it suggests you’re counting down the hours until your relationship ends… I also wouldn’t get my significant other a cologne, unless I knew the name of the one he wears and know that it’s running out.
Really and truly, it’s all a case of being a bae/girlfriend/fiancé/wife ninja and trying to figure out what he’s interested in… If he likes movies, get him some DVDs. If he likes Disney, go to the Disney Store and have a look round for what’s on offer… Same with comics. If he’s a comic book nerd, check out your nearest comic book store for inspiration.
The failsafe options would be boxers, socks, a gift card which – come to think of it – doesn’t sound like a bad idea if they’re big on iTunes or Amazon etc.
Alternatively, if he’s into football, you could try booking a tour of his team’s football ground or taking him to watch them play? If that’s not possible, buy him a customised Home and/or Away (not the soap) shirt provided he doesn’t own one…
Also, if he leads an active lifestyle, you could book a hike or excursion-packed weekend away?
See, although some say it’s “difficult” to buy guys the right gifts, it really isn’t… You’ve just got to know your man. You’ve got to listen to him, understand him, you’ve got to invest time into finding out what makes him tick, learning his wants, needs, interests etc. Then? Well, then you’ve won!
If you’re still unsure, why not do something really sentimental like cook him a meal, buy some massage oils and invite him round for a chilled night-in full of relaxation? That’s bound to do the trick!
At this point, if you’ve still not come up with anything, you have very little choice but to think outside the box and create a photo album, a Love Book, or doing something original like assembling a LEGO set or painting onto ceramics… Be creative. Be logical.
Whatever you end up doing, getting him or planning, he will love it, I assure you! The things guys really crave is our time and affection.
