Barbie and Ken doll-faces,
It’s the first Saturday of 2017!
How are you all taking to Dry January? … The pun “like a duck to water” probably isn’t best placed here, is it?
I mean, personally, I can’t say mine has been much a “Dry” one because it’s quite the opposite. I’ve never been this hydrated…
You may remember that I vowed to drink a lot more (wine? I wish!) water this year. Yes, that is my only resolution. You know me, always one to make resolutions I can “stick to”!
I’ve tried the “staying fit” and “cutting out sugar” ones but – taking chewy supplements means I can’t cut sugar out completely. 😕
Instead, I’m treating myself to something sweet every *now* and again… Like, today for example…
I decided to go out and buy everyone (*in my household* before y’all start thinking I make a habit of buying 7+ billion people things!) breakfast and most mentioned they wanted “croissants” so I went out to get some, buying myself boiled eggs and spinach. Exciting!
Now, let’s all be realistic… If there’s a croissant or two on the table, I’m going to have a bit. I had the tip of an almond croissant i.e. just a bite. The moral of this story is: for once I knew when to stop. #SelfControl
Anyway, back to ‘Dry January’ (and the reason for writing this post). You’ll notice the title of this post has the word “Shots” in it. I bet your first thought was “Sambuca!” 😂🤣
Besides, I’m not a fan of Sambucas anyway! I tried them once and won’t go near them again unless I have to… Give me a shot of Bailey’s or Malibu, though, and we’re good!
At least you can always count on me to live life in the “fast*” lane, eh?
*”quiet? Not even that! Silent‘s more like it!”
I’m talking about Pret a Manger‘s shots! You know, the ones that don’t aid liver damage?!
There are two that I know of currently. A Ginger & Apple and a Tumeric, Orange and Cayenne. Yes, I know… They sound: 🤢 to most, but to me they’re amazing!
Let’s just clarify here and now that they’re not quite like your average Sambuca. What I mean is there is a 0% chance of getting “hammered” or “mortal” from them. But, they do the trick for me!
I first tried the Ginger Shot a month ago and let me tell you… I have never felt so energised. I wanted to do everything and was bouncing off walls – in a content – rather than hyperactive type of way.
C’mon now, let’s all not be stupid and ask what a Ginger Shot would taste like… Don’t make me prolong this post even more… 😂
If you like ginger, you’ll love this!
The Orange, Tumeric and Cayenne pepper one, on the other hand, is something I’ve only discovered today. It’s slightly spicy. I mean, if we’re comparing it to a Nando’s, I’d give it a Medium heat.
This one has a kick to it, as far as I could tell you can taste the orange and Cayenne more than the Tumeric.
I tried it as much as an hour ago and I feel extremely light – like a feather. My body feels lighter and I feel like I’ve had a pick me up and a boost to my immune system. Weirdly, I was feeling the chill of being outdoors prior to having this but afterwards I felt a lot hotter in temperature (not just spice and looks 😉). Strange, huh?
I have been taking the Ginger Shot alone almost every day – I usually drink one a day, after work – but I think I’m going to add the Orange, Cayenne, and Tumeric one to the list too and alternate between whether I take one in morning or evening and visa-versa.
